About Dangerous Goods Training Centre

Founder-run, compliance-focused training for the dangerous goods and heavy-vehicle industry — delivered with more than three decades of hands-on experience.

Dangerous Goods Training Centre (DGTC) is an Australian Registered Training Organisation partnership. We deliver nationally recognised training to drivers, schedulers, transport managers, and workplace staff who handle, transport or supervise dangerous goods and heavy-vehicle operations.

Who founded DGTC?

John Kells, founder of Dangerous Goods Training Centre

John Kells

Founder

John Kells has spent over 30 years building some of Australia’s most respected dangerous goods training programs. After founding and growing a leading training centre — then choosing to sell — John founded DGTC to continue delivering world-class, accredited training to the people who need it most.

Everything John built over those three decades — the expertise, the course knowledge, the reputation — he carries with him. DGTC is where that experience continues, with the same standards and the same hands-on approach in the room with you.

Why start DGTC?

After three decades and the decision to sell, John could have stepped away for good. He didn’t. A commitment to higher training standards — and to the drivers, schedulers and operators who depend on getting it right — brought him back. DGTC is that fresh start: the same expertise and values, delivered under a new name that is wholly his own.

A name the industry already knows

If you’ve worked in dangerous goods transport in NSW, there is a good chance you already know John by name. That reputation was earned over a 30-year career and belongs to him personally — it is the foundation DGTC is built on. Whether you trained with John years ago or are meeting DGTC for the first time, you’re working with the same person and the same standards.

What makes DGTC different?

  • Founder-delivered training. DGTC is small by design. The founder who built the expertise is the person in the room — not a freshly hired trainer reading from a deck.
  • Three decades of expertise. More than 30 years across dangerous goods and heavy-vehicle training — through regulatory cycles, industry shifts and changing workplace expectations.
  • A full catalogue under one provider. Nine nationally recognised courses spanning dangerous goods transport, driver fatigue management, cargo securement and forklift operations.
  • Practical first, paperwork second. Compliance matters — but the goal is operators who can do the job safely on day one, not just pass an assessment.

How is DGTC accredited?

DGTC delivers nationally recognised training in partnership with Robinson Education Centre Ltd (trading as Robinson College), a Registered Training Organisation based in Broken Hill, NSW. Statements of Attainment are issued under Robinson College’s RTO ID 90449.

You book and train with DGTC; your nationally recognised qualification is issued under the partner RTO’s accreditation — a standard arrangement that lets a specialist provider deliver accredited training without running the full administrative footprint of a standalone RTO.

Where are we based?

Our in-centre training is delivered at Unit 11, 1 Holbeche Rd, Arndell Park NSW 2148. On-site delivery is available at your premises for group bookings — including interstate and regional travel by arrangement.

Most TL-coded accredited courses run face-to-face at the Arndell Park centre. The Drivers Fatigue Risk Management course (TLIF0005) is also available as a live, instructor-led online session via Zoom.
